Most banks are complicit in climate change and need to be held to account.
As far as I can work out @triodosuk @coopbank @nationwidebuildingsociety are the best, I think in that order. We can make a difference simply by changing to a more ethical bank!!
We understandably feel overwhelmed and hopeless by the enormity of the problem of the climate emergency so any action feels incredibly positive 🧡

The fast fashion industry is an ugly business exploiting both people and the planet.
Do better @missguided your practices are abhorrent. You are far from alone in this.
As consumers, we have a choice. If a piece of clothing is ridiculously cheap, the price has been paid somewhere along the line so you can have it at that price.
We all need to demand more equity, more justice, for people paid pitiful wages, for our planet being ravaged and for future generations who have a right to a future that isn't apocalyptic.
Buy less, buy sustainably and ethically. Reuse and recycle.
But ALSO demand change from the powers that be.

She and other climate activists and scientists have penned a clear and brilliant open letter to EU and Global leaders.
Please go to her bio to read the letter. Then please sign and share as widely as you possibly can.
The words crisis, emergency and catastrophe are used consistently by scientists who have accurately predicted where we are now and where we are headed. And yet... governments, business, finance are Absolutely not behaving as if it is any of those things.
I am 52, I will most probably escape the worst of what is to come. My children and theirs should they have any, will not. It will effect far sooner those in the global south, already is. We need to act now. If you don't know what to do then please share this. Read up, All the information is widely available, then share with everyone you know. Our leaders are knowingly leading us to extinction but before that, starvation, displacement, war and more. This isn't an issue that is of interest for a certain section of society, for those "interested in environmentalism " The survival of the worlds future generations is all of our responsibility.

A really interesting post by @xrebellionuk so instead of reposting I thought I'd share my thoughts.
Since it's conception I believe XR has wished to be inclusive. I have been aware of many many conversations and attempts to attract members of black and non white communities. But despite this the movement has remained predominantly white. Maybe at least one of the answers to this is blindingly simple.
A lot of the coverage of XR shows images of people being cheered as they were arrested, of crowds chanting We love you to police and even a letter to Brixton police station thanking them for looking after them so well.
It is obvious that willingly getting arrested in order to highlight climate emergency is open Only to those in a position of white privilege.
I feel I understood that last April but also felt that here was something that I could do - With my privilege. I wasn't sure what else I could do... Well, I'm still not sure and I'm searching for answers as are many in XR. Their statement says they "recognise our tactic of arrest has made it easier for people of privilege to participate and that our behaviours and attitudes fed into the system of white supremacy. We are sorry this recognition came so late." Also that "presenting the experience of arrest as something straightforward - rather than acknowledging the stressful, intimidating and sometimes deadly experience marginalised people face at the hands of the police - was a mistake "
I feel hugely heartened by this, the recognition of having got it wrong and wishing wholeheartedly to get it right and do better.
We are all aware the climate crisis/emergency/catastrophe is coming and is here. For many in the global south it is already wreaking havoc. Humanity requires Everybody to demand the powers that be to do what is necessary Now to mitigate the damage and prepare us for the future.
We desperately need to join together and demand our governments act immediately. I want to be part of a movement that is entirely inclusive, that strives to seek climate and social justice.
